This Article is for Me
You can read it if you want
Saturday, August 15th - 3:00pm
I blocked off the entire weekend for packing, but I haven’t even started yet.
I’m spinning around my apartment, overwhelmed.
They say you should write the story you want to read, so, this is me writing a motivational/hype list for packing (but really it applies to most things in my life).
I DON’T CARE IF IT’S CHEESY, OKAY, I NEED IT.
The thing about chasing an interesting life is it can be incredibly inconvenient. The hard work is simply the price you pay for good things and memorable experiences.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE GONNA DO
Control your ego/pride/whatever you want to call it.
You spend way too much time wondering how to make things efficient and perfect because you still think everything is graded. You think if it’s not perfect, then you’re suddenly not as capable as you think you are. You plan and you strategize, but you don’t act.
This is a) false and b) a waste of time.
No one cares! and you can’t live life in your head. Just act, then adjust as needed. Literally just put stuff in a box and then put more stuff in another box and then keep going and wow look at that it’s done.
Accept that some things are not fun
Not everything is fun and that’s okay. The faster you get it done, the faster you can move on
Some things aren’t fun, but you can make them a little fun
Play club music, call your friends, put on an emotional support TV show, get a fun bev to sip on, take breaks.
It’s not that serious!!
Be grateful for the end goal
Use the mountain top view as motivation to keep going on the journey or whatever insufferable metaphor you want to use. The important thing is to be grateful for where you are because it’s leading you to where you want to go.
Make a list, but then get to work
Lists are fun but they are also procrastination. Write down the essentials, then start getting things done. Again, you can’t strategize a task away, you still have to do the task.
Don’t forget to ask for help
You’re not meant to do this alone 💙
